DVD-Rom Drive Light Keeps Blinking

I just installed XP Pro on my HP Omnibook laptop and the
DVD-Rom drive light keeps blinking, about once per
second, regardless of any disk being in the drive.

It did this under Win 98 and I was able to turn off
the "Auto Insert Notification" in Device Manager which
fixed it.

Under XP, there is no option like this.
