Default Floppy drive on Win XP Pro

HELP!

I just built my own computer and I can not get Windows XP
Professional to install the floppy drive. Under the device
manager, the generic floppy disk controller is installed.
I have uninstalled the controller and that has not worked.
I have played with some of the registry settings and that
has not worked. What can I do? Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

Specs:
AMD Athlon 2600+
XFX Mach4 KT400ANB ATX motherboard
Powmax 500W power supply
PowerUp! FDD-AL-1.44-BLK Floppy Disk Drive

Thanks!

Have you tried:

a) Reseating the floppy drive connectors.
b) Turned the connector 180 degrees.
c) Taken the drive out of the casing to access it. (Dangling the drive on
the connectors).
d) Final try: change the floppy drive.

All the best.
