trying to install wireless g pci adapter

I am trying finish installing/setting up a Wireless-G PCI
Adapter for a computer that has been reformatted and only
has the operating system (Windows XP) on it. It
recognizes new hardware on startup but at end of that
unsuccessful try at installing (or reinstalling) the
drivers, I receive a "Code 28". I tried this card in
another computer and it worked perfectly. So what could
be the problem?
