XP does not recognize drives.

I have a cd drive a burner drive a zip drive and floppy
drive. Until a month ago all were recognized when I
inserted a cd or disk. Now it comes up corrupt cd or disk.
If I leave the disk or cd in and re-boot I can read them.
How can I get them to work again without having to re-boot.
