I was having problems with autoplay not recognizing my compact flash card.
Ran TweakUI and fixed it, but now, when the autoplay options box pops up, there are several weird options listed. They are symbols I can't recreate on the key board, primarily looking like retangles side by side. These symbols combined with others form 10 or more new options under autoplay for the device. Each is followed by "using <need provider>" Should I do a repair install? I tried System restore, but I keep getting the message "Cannot restore computer to earlier restore point no changes have been made to your computer" no matter what date I choose. |

Thanks. I'll give that a try before something more desperate. Wonder how
the entries were created. I run Norton, spybot and adaware on a regular basis and use Zonealarm. Hi JGB,
Does TweakUI list the erroneous [ <need provider> ] entries? -- Ramesh, Microsoft MVP Windows XP Shell/User http://windowsxp.mvps.org "JGB" <JGB@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:EE6BC40A-40F8-4477-B1F2-C69E6245A673@microsoft.com... I don't think so. I would have to check when I get home. I think they are
only listed in the box that pops up when I insert a disc or when I look at the device in My Computer. i don't think so. I think they are visible only in the box that comes up
when I insert a disc, or when viewing Autoplay for the device in My Computer. However, I would have to check when I get home to be sure. jgbowman,
If the problem is still unresolved, try this: o Download CleanHandlers v2.0 from http://windowsxp.mvps.org/autoplayhandlers.htm o Unzip and run the utility (Don't delete any handler now) o Click "Detect invalid Autoplay handlers" button. Log file will be generated and opened o Post the contents of the log file here. -- Ramesh, Microsoft MVP Windows XP Shell/User http://windowsxp.mvps.org "jgbowman" <jgbowman@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:490DB047-5C9A-4FD6-B1BF-46CA34053688@microsoft.com... >i don't think so. Hello all,
I have somewhat a different problem. I have a simple autorun.inf file like this: [autorun] OPEN=.\portableapps\asuite.exe ICON=.\portableapps\asuite.exe ACTION = My portable drive Under Vista, my USB (which has some portable software and some music) is behaving fine. It shows a screen that allow me to click and run my asuite.exe (a menu) software or it allows me to open files stored on the USB. The same USB when inserting to an XP system will come up with "mixed content" and the popup windows is blank, nothing in it to choose from. Why? And more importanly how do I fix this? It drives me nut! Thanks all |
