Default Dont Buy From Them

Trust me i speak from experience, this company sell sub standard PC components in side a sub standcase.

Keyboards and mouses that cost £1.50 each, no wonder they dont work.

And when you ask for a replacement it never arrives.

Default Waiting a week for a refund

They took an order from me on the 28th August and rang me to check the details and advised that delivery would be "nextweek". I chased "next week" and was told "next Tuesday" (in writing). Took the day off work. Never arrived. Patiently chased again and guess what? "Next Tuesday". Guess what? Nope. I contacted them on Monday of this week and when I finally got through advised that if the unit wasn't delivered next day to cancel. They didn't call me back but did send an email at 5:30pm saying that they will cancel the machine.

I went to PCWorld monday night and bought a PC. (I needed one!)

Still waiting a week later for my refund. I have heard nothing from Bolton PC. They have had my money since the 28th August and are now not giving it back!

Make up your own mind about Bolton PC but be very careful.

Default Bolton PC

Got my computer yesterday after waiting 7 days as stated on the website and in e-mail. Don't know much about types of motherboards and such but the computer i received works just fine and in regard to performance is pretty much what i paid for and what i expected. The computer was well packed in tranist to prevent damage just like they say on the website. The website itself is clearly set out, easy to navigate, and helpful (although the design is a bit 1997ish). The best part i suppose is the build your pc part by part section whereby you can select whichever type of processor, memory, graphics you want and get a price of each individual part in relation to your original budget. Along with the very competitive prices (its says on the website "we dare you to find cheaper"....dunt know about cheapest but it must be very very close having spent half a day on Internet planning where to buy it from) this is what persuaded me to buy from them. Having said this though i've only had the bloody thing for a day...it'll probably be on fire or summat when i get home from work!

The only thing I found a bit annoying about Bolton PC is that there isn't a direct number where you can call someone if you want any queries answering, like you phone this voicemail number and they say they'll call you back........but don't! (I phoned twice and no-one called back). This is perfectly fine i suppose if you live near the shop and can go down to the place itself and see what's going on, but say for example if you read bad reviews about the company and want to alay those doubts by actually speaking to someone from the company so they can re-assure you then you have to do it on their terms....like "we'll call you when it's convenient for us".....which can be frustrating and make you very doubtful. I can imagine it being a bloody nightmare if someone's computer were to break, not being allowed to speak to the company who the person bought the computer off immedietely will only make them more ****ed off.

In conclusion, Bolton PC do exactly what they say on the website "cheap computer built and delivered in 7 days"....................... but minus the fantastic support bit! I would rate them 7.5/10

Default Shocking place

Yes, I read this thread and I recognise much of it. I made the mistake of buying from this place before I read a review of it. The equipment arrived with parts missing, including a dvd drive, and a year later I am still trying to get redress. The parts that did turn up were flimsy and substandard. The manager of boltonpc refuses to honour the sale of goods act and supply what was itemised on the invoice. Looks like its the civil courts then!
By the way, they use more than one business name and address so if you also have problems with this place, look into 'thecomputershop@boltonpc' 'boltonpc' and 'stevehoward@instantecommerce'. I really should have smelt a rat when i saw the number of business addresses that appeared on the invoice. Maybe this is why he is so rude and smarmy when you try to speak to him - he thinks he is above the laws the rest of us adhere to.

He's absolutely right though. Contrary to my review posted 16 months ago, this company are indeed a bag of ********! Long story short....After 9 months graphics card and DVD drive broke, which I can prove was down to the ****ehawkness of the components.....refused to repair or replace as per the terms of their "12 month warranty".......showed a level of customer service that would put Ventura to shame....returned my still broken computer after 3 months of me asking for it back!

I have already reported these scheming schyster cowboys to Trading Standards, Watchdog and various other consumer-protection based organisations. The discourtesy and disrespect these people show their customers is an absolute disgrace, they obviously aren't dependant on repeat business. If I had the time and money I would take up their challenge of legal action (which they offered in their 2nd e-mail to me when I asked why they can't repair my computer under warranty). I have saved all correspondence I had with these chumps and are worth reading for comedy value e.g. one word e-mails "No", claiming my Windows CD was scratched when they were infact trying to run it in the broken DVD drive!!!! or for anyone who needs help with them if they have or have had a similar problems.

I've heard a lot of good things from friends and others about other custom-buy PC retailers, so for the most part I think most are genuine companies...but seriously stay well clear of these bums...it will save you a lot of time and aggro!

I've moved this thread (and others) from the old retailer ratings section into the forum retailers section - that forum was so old that it wasn't on the main forum screen.

I am having a very very bad time with Bolton PC. They didn't deliver the PC, I tried to contact them almost every day - it's impossible to get a response to emails or phone messages. Then after 5 weeks emailed me saying they had cancelled the order as they couldn't contact me regarding a problem with my order and that my credit card had not been charged!! (IT HAD - 3 DAYS AFTER I MADE THE ORDER. I'm currently trying to get a refund with the help of trading stadards.

Worst company ever.

November 2007: 600 Pound Computer Arrives, Wrong processor, Wrong gfx card and Wouldnt switch on. Called (had to try 13 times) He claimed the phones were "Busy" Although they rang all the way through. They sent a Courier to take the computer and send another one, Took 14 days. Worked this time.

December 2007: After eventually getting the computer up and running, It stayed on for about 30 mins at a time, then overheated. There were NO fans built on the system, Only the one onboard the processor and on the gfx card. So i called around 15 times, no answers although the website said that all computers are fitted with all the fans needed to run the system, I had to fit my own.

Jan 2008: Usb ports stopped working, Nothing could be fixed about them, Had to replace.

June 2008: Whole computer stopped working, Called, Emailed - No answers. Decide to reformat myself, But Windows disk was broken, Had to use a friends disc to install. Once Reformatted and everything fixed, after a week or 2, It stopped turning on again.

Guys, Dont get ripped off by this company, They have taken enough money so far, So many reviews on the net about these, Some have even taken them to court.

Hope u guys enjoy your working computers
