Default USB mouse not detected at startup

Hi all,

In Windows XP Home on a laptop I have a Logitech mouseman
wheel that windows does not detect at startup (tried all 3
ports). I need to unplug and the re-plug the mouse to have
it detect.

The ports are USB 2.0. I have the latest drivers and
mouseware. There's also a synaptics touchpad on the laptop.

Thanks for any info.

This is most likely a hardware issue with your laptop.
The Synaptics touchpad interferes with the detection of
Logitech mice on many systems. On my Dell laptop, I have
to go into the BIOS and select an option that disabled
the touchpad when there was a mouse plugged in. This
solved the problem. This was a known issue posted on
Logitech's website.
