XP Pro SP3 Printer window does not show any print jobs in queue

I am running XP Pro SP3 on a HP Pavilion ZE5470US notebook. When I print a
document to my printer (atteched via USB2 port), no print jobs show up in the
printer queue window, yet the counter for the number of print jobs in the
queue indicates the correct number of print jobs. I have tried restarting
the printer queue service and can not fix this problem. I also have not find
any similar issues to this here or I-Net searches. How do I get my print
jobs to show up in my printer queue window?
