Default What is the minimun driver for a HP CM1312NFI MFP printer

(I've seen a Macintosh find and print to a networked HP MFP without
asking for added software. Is there any chance that XP/Vista can do
what Mac has been doing for some time?)

I need to d/l the minimum software for a networked HP CM1312NFI MFP
printer.

Here is HP's download page:

Which do I choose?

All I want right now is the basic print capability, not the entire
kit.

I want to be able to print over ethernet and print over USB.

The terminology in the driver section is ambiguous. To me, "Network
Express Install" and "USB Express Install" sound like installation
media (or over the net) but maybe they mean what flavor of
printer-connectivity the software is specific to.

Thanks.

PCL6 drivers should be included in Vista, and probably are included in XP
(sorry, no XP PCs here to check).

When adding the printer, choose the Add a Network Printer option, let it
find the printer, and if the drivers are already included in the O/S, it
will install them automatically.

Realize that *if* there is a built-in driver in Win XP, it will provide
only basic printing, not whatever "multi-function" capability this
device has.

The "USB" refers to installing the software when the device is to be
connected to the computer with a USB cable.

If you click on the "Express Install" links on the page you linked to
above, you will see both a description and installation instructions for
the different packages.
