Default Recovering from a virus

I recently got a virus that destroyed my computer. I have managed to delete
the 20 or so viruses this program downloaded off the internet or created. But
alot of settings have already been changed. I do have a day old registry
backup stored as a reg file, but is their a special way to do a complete
registry restore with this file? I know you can just right click it and
select merge, but since this is a complete restore, i don't know. Any ideas?

With so much damage it would be far better to back up your data and start
over.

If it's a .reg file then all you can do is double click it and merge the
changes. The proper way of backing up the whole registry is via NTBACKUP by
selecting System State.

Try System Restore to an earlier date and see if that will help you.
If that doesn't help then Take Malke's Offer and nothingb better than a
clean install!
I don't think the registry will help too much unless you suspected some
restrictions in place by the Viral infection in the registry, which will be
uselss if the infection long reside on the machine and suddenly just got out
of hand and start to be destructive.
