Cant upgrade programs

I can not upgrade programs says I am not connected to the internet but I am.
That has been going on for a few days then today I cant get on the internet
explorer at all. The only way I can get online is going thur my AOL. I have
checked my firewall and its not the problem. I need to protect my computer
but I cant get the upgrade to get my virus protector.

I am running into the same exact problem. I can access internet explorer but
can't update anyting. I can't even access online games I play. have you had
any resolve on your problem. any info would help me out.
