Sidebar in mail compose windows?

I'm not sure about the name. Sidebar? CommandBar? Panel?

What I'd to create is a panel with my dialog items (lists, buttons, etc.) at the left or right side of the Outlook "compose new mail" window.

I'd be grateful for any hint on how this is called in Outlook. A pointer to sample code would be wonderful, too.
