Default Outgoing mail

I use a AT&T exspress aircard and can't send mail out through windows mail on
Vista. Do I need to change my outgoing mail port from 25 to another port
number? If so what port # or how do I obtain that info?

Thanks

Ask your regular mail provider. AT&T is probably blocking port 25.

Yes, if you are using a non-AT&T SMTP server.

Check with your mail provider, or tell us who your mail provider is, and
we can look it up for you.

I have my problem when I use my AT&T aircard away from home, I work up and down the whole Ohio, Tennessee, and Cumberland Rivers as a riverboat captain. I can recieve mail anywhere I can get online but cannot send mail anywhere useing the AT&T aircard.

The reason why you have a sending problem when away from home
is explained here: http://www.postcastserver.com/help/...5_Blocking.aspx

There are 4 possible workarounds for this problem.
1. Use webmail for sending if your mail provider offers access to mail via the web.
2. Ask your mail provider if they have a port other than '25' for SMTP.
3. Ask your AT&T Aircard service provider if they have an SMTP server you can use.
4. Get a free Gmail account, configure it for POP access, and
use it for your sending chores. Gmail uses port 465 for SMTP, which is not blocked
like port 25 is.
