When I log on to Windows Mail, I get the following pop up message:
The message store has been corrupted by an application external to Windows Mail. Windows Mail has been able to successfully recover from this corruption. (0x00000000). edb, edbres0000..., edbres0000..., temp.edb, edb00001, edbtmp I followed all of your instructions last year and I still can't get these off of my desktop. I have tried to delete them and they keep comming back. I don't want to go to live mail. I just want the vista that I paid for to work. So how do I get rid of these folders on my desktop that were created by trying to fix the problems deleting my mail. thanks, bj |

I don't know how to say this any plainer than the previous time.
Your Windows Mail is corrupted, which is why it continues to generate those spurious files on your desktop. Add to that the fact that Windows Mail is considered 'dead' and (according to Microsoft) has been replaced by Windows Live Mail, your easiest way out seems obvious... Apart from wiping Vista and reinstalling it, there is a laborious procedure for 'resetting' Windows Mail: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/6...l-problems.html Scroll down that page and read the section "How to Backup and Reset Windows Mail". -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (WLMail) "bj" <bj@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:64751A17-6F0B-4A2A-B65A-DF35089AC104@microsoft.com... > When I log on to Windows Mail, I get the following pop up message: > The message store has been corrupted by an application external to Windows > Mail. They are releasing new versions of Windows Live Mail, but have not released any updates for Windows Mail for several months (about 17 months?). |

<VBG> It will self destruct -- no need to take external action.

Then you are one of the few for which Gmail doesn't work on WLM.
If WLM had a Gmail bug, the complaints would be ubiquitous and deafening! -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (WLMail) "beauparc" <guest@unknown-email.com> wrote in message news:4c4f0f466b83273a2ef6d846218385a6@nntp-gateway.com... > > I am not an expert on computers, just reasonably competent having used > them since the days of the Spectrum and C64. > > I installed Vista immediately it launched and Windows Mail has worked > flawlessly since. > > I tried Windows Live Mail a couple of months ago and, while it worked > with my normal email account, it refused point blank to have anything to > do with Googlemail.
