Hi, I can only receive e-mails via Windows Mail if my laptop (Vista) is
switched on and connected to the internet & Windows Mail. If I click on "Send/ Receive All" a message box very quickly comes up. It says "finding host, authorising, connected" then "disconnected" a split second later. Why is it disconnecting itself? The server is our website provider. HELP! Thanks. |

Did you expect your computer to receive email while it is off?
The "disconnecting" in this case simply means your mail program has finished talking to the mail server. Are you sure there is mail on the server waiting to be downloaded? What happens when you send an email to yourself? -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (WLMail) "campsie view" <campsie view@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:445F9227-7A50-4D1D-A9B8-8084CCEB99F2@microsoft.com... > Hi, I can only receive e-mails via Windows Mail if my laptop (Vista) is > switched on and connected to the internet & Windows Mail. Well with my yahoo e-mail my laptop is switched off. When I switch it on and
open my yahoo mail it has all of the new messages I have been sent since I was last on it. This is what I meant. I have asked someone to send me mail to my windows mail when my laptop is off and I never receive it. If my laptop is on I do get it. Thanks. While your laptop is off, new messages are temporarily stored in
your mailbox on the mail server. As soon as you turn your laptop back on and Windows Mail is open, it will download and display all your new messages. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (WLMail) "campsie view" <campsieview@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:919AA864-BC89-472F-A101-05C6294A9FDF@microsoft.com... > Well with my yahoo e-mail my laptop is switched off.
