There is a leading sentence missing from your error message,
possibly something like "The connection to the server was unexpectedly lost." Please include the whole error message next time. This type of problem is often caused by a non-compatible antivirus. Which antivirus are you running, and do you have it configured to scan emails? -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (WLMail) "John" <John@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:672AB417-C992-4D99-9DC8-684DD9888C1E@microsoft.com... > Hi, just set up windows mail for my email, and not able to receive mail. That was the whole error message i'm afraid. I'm using PC guard which is for
Virgin/Telewest customers. Its set to scan emails yeah. Should this be set not to? -- John "Gary VanderMolen" wrote: > There is a leading sentence missing from your error message, > possibly something like "The connection to the server was unexpectedly > lost." I'm not familiar with PC Guard. Turn that mail scanning option off,
then try Windows Mail again. You may have to reboot first. To learn why mail scanning is bad, see http://thundercloud.net/infoave/tut...nning/index.htm and http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3 If no improvement, temporarily uninstall the antivirus, reboot, then try mail again. If that fixed the problem, report back for further instructions. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (WLMail) "John" <John@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:1CF93D4B-9C00-4EDE-AC80-4DA60C4E40D0@microsoft.com... > That was the whole error message i'm afraid.
