Default Sending mail from Windows Mail

My email provider is 1and1. I followed their guidance in setting up a Windows
Mail account. I managed to transfer my indox but not my messages sent, and I
am unable to send messages from my Windows Mail account. The error message
that I get is:
The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'test', Account: 'Work
mail', Server: 'auth.smtp.1and1.co.uk', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25,
Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
Can you help please???

Have you set the smtp server to authenticate in email settings?

Did you previously use webmail with 1and1?
A POP account can only download messages that are in the server's
Inbox folder. If you need to download the Sent messages from the
server, try moving them from the Sent folder to the Inbox folder.

As for the error message, you can't use port 25 SMTP with a server
that is not owned by your ISP. Who is your ISP?
Also try asking 1and 1 if they have an alternate SMTP port (other
then '25').

Following is my true question:

My email provider is Comcast.net. I followed their guidance in setting up a
Windows Mail account. I managed to transfer my indox but not my messages
sent, and I am unable to send messages from my Windows Mail account. The
error message that I get is:

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for
this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of
inactivity. Subject 'test', Account: 'mail.comcast.net', Server:
'smtp.comcast.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error:
10053, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

Comcast has started requiring users to switch to a different port for
outgoing mail, but has not been good at telling users about this. See

Does your connection to that server cross over from one internet provider's
equipment to another's before it reaches the server? If so, such
connections
to port 25 are often blocked to cause problems for spammers, and you need
to ask 1and1.co.uk if their outgoing mail server listens for outgoing mail
on
any port other than port 25, and if so, where to find the instructions for
switching to the other port. Just trying all the ports is a very slow way
to find
out, since there are about 65,000 ports available.

Do these help?

Do not install the Google Toolbar program - it causes problems in
Windows Mail.
