Do you have Outlook installed? In order to send mail, Office programs
seem to need the MAPI handlers normally supplied by Outlook. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (WLMail) "mbjackson@xtra.co.nz" <mbjacksonxtra.co.nz.38e3cg@no-mx.forums.vistaheads.com> wrote in message news:mbjacksonxtra.co.nz.38e3cg@no-mx.forums.vistaheads.com... > > The option to "send email" is greyed out in MS Office2007. I use Office 2003, and as far as I can tell, you only get the "Send" or
"Send as Copy" button if you have an email account set up in Outlook, and you select a recipient from the Outlook contacts. Clicking on "File" - "Send To" - "Mail Recipient (as attachment)" opens the default email program, which in my case, is Thunderbird. I'm not sure if this works with Windows Mail, as it won't attach an open file. -- Vista Home Premium 32 SP1 http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview "mbjackson@xtra.co.nz" <mbjacksonxtra.co.nz.38e7k8@no-mx.forums.vistaheads.com> wrote in message news:mbjacksonxtra.co.nz.38e7k8@no-mx.forums.vistaheads.com... > > Hi gary, > no I do not have Outlook, nor do i really want it. I tested this with both Office 2003 and Office 2007, and Send To -- Mail
Recipient worked with Windows Mail. However, both times I had Outlook installed. I don't know how to make it work without Outlook's MAPI handler. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (WLMail) "Dave" <dave@beepbeep.com> wrote in message news:eMdqFnmpIHA.4904@TK2MSFTNGP03.phx.gbl... >I use Office 2003, and as far as I can tell, you only get the "Send" or > "Send as Copy" button if you have an email account set up in Outlook, and > you select a recipient from the Outlook contacts. > Clicking on "File" - "Send To" - "Mail Recipient (as attachment)" opens the > default email program, which in my case, is Thunderbird. Outlook is relatively expensive.
If you need to send a document composed in an Office app, close the document, then use the 'Attach' feature from within Windows Mail to send that document. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (WLMail) "mbjackson@xtra.co.nz" <mbjacksonxtra.co.nz.38fwo7@no-mx.forums.vistaheads.com> wrote in message news:mbjacksonxtra.co.nz.38fwo7@no-mx.forums.vistaheads.com... > > Thanks Gary, > looks like I will need to install Outlook, however I only recently > loaded Office 2007 academic without Outlook, so how best to procure > Outlook now?? > ![]() > > Thanks > Mike. > > > -- > mbjackson@xtra.co.nz > Posted via http://www.vistaheads.com > |
