I am using WI-FI, and cannot send email or receive from windows. The message
could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the "I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider. The rejected e-mail address was 'manager@carolinasoccercamp.com'. Subject 'Re: Carolina Soccer Camp Confirmation', Account: 'Camp Manager', Server: 'smtp-server.nc.rr.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '553 <manager@carolinasoccercamp.com> is not allowed to use this service', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 553, Error Number: 0x800CCC78 |

Wireless connections are more likely to start out through an internet
provider's equipment other then the internet provider whose email server you are trying to reach, and therefore run into the port 25 blockage I mentioned in my last message. In this case, it's a good idea to ask your email provider if their outgoing email server listens for outgoing email on any other port besides port 25, and if so, the details of how to switch to the other port. Just trying all the ports is a very slow way to find out, since there are about 65,000 ports available. Which company is the provider for the Wi-Fi connectivity?
If other than Road Runner, that explains it. Are you using a laptop away from home? -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (WLMail) "Heels" <Heels@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:F420D289-645D-49B7-AFAD-598135D6CAEB@microsoft.com... >I am using WI-FI, and cannot send email or receive from windows. The message > could not be sent. Changing to another port that uses more checking to make sure what user
is using it often helps. Which port depends on which email provider has that server, though, so try to get more instructions on this from this email provider, especially from the provider that has the outgoing email server you're using. Just trying all the ports is a very slow way to find out, since there are about 65,000 ports available. See if this helps you find such information: <http://help.rr.com/AA/rrwho.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2fHMSLogic%2femail_help_topic.aspx%3ftopic%3dE%2bmail&topic=E+mail> "Heels" <Heels@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:529C5262-83B8-4E08-8F8E-B3591CB24107@microsoft.com... > the outgoing mail is mail.pointinspace.com and the smtp is > smtp-server.nc.rr.com i beleive the wireless at the time was netgear i'm > in > my office and can't send but i can receive im now using wireless on UNC 1 > I;m not sure what to do but i have some calls in..Should I need to change > the port or smtp? > > "Gary VanderMolen" wrote: > >> Which company is the provider for the Wi-Fi connectivity? >> If other than Road Runner, that explains it. >> Are you using a laptop away from home? >> >> -- >> Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (WLMail) >> >> >> "Heels" <Heels@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message >> news:F420D289-645D-49B7-AFAD-598135D6CAEB@microsoft.com... >> >I am using WI-FI, and cannot send email or receive from windows. The >> >message >> > could not be sent. Netgear is the manufacturer of your wireless router. They don't
provide the data stream from the Internet. If you are in the office, that means your Internet connection is NOT being provided by your home ISP. When using port 25 SMTP, you must always use the SMTP server that belongs to the same entity as the one providing the Internet data stream connection. One workaround is to use a port other than 25. Unfortunately, Road Runner does not accommodate that. (Most cable companies are similarly retarded.) The other available workarounds are (a) use webmail for sending, or (b) get a free account with Gmail and use that for sending. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (WLMail) "Heels" <Heels@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:529C5262-83B8-4E08-8F8E-B3591CB24107@microsoft.com... > the outgoing mail is mail.pointinspace.com and the smtp is > smtp-server.nc.rr.com i beleive the wireless at the time was netgear i'm in > my office and can't send but i can receive im now using wireless on UNC 1 > I;m not sure what to do but i have some calls in..Should I need to change > the port or smtp? > > "Gary VanderMolen" wrote: > >> Which company is the provider for the Wi-Fi connectivity? >> If other than Road Runner, that explains it. >> Are you using a laptop away from home? >> >> -- >> Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (WLMail) >> >> >> "Heels" <Heels@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:F420D289-645D-49B7-AFAD-598135D6CAEB@microsoft.com... >> >I am using WI-FI, and cannot send email or receive from windows. The message >> > could not be sent.
