Please post back with a better description of the issue, remembering that we can't see your computer. http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Usenet http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/555375 - How to Ask a Question In the meantime, here is how to manage your Startup: Start Orb>Start Search box>msconfig [enter] If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Continue. Then see what is on the Startup tab. You don't need to restart immediately, but the next time you do you'll get a dialog saying you've used the Utility. Usually in Vista this will be blocked by Windows Defender and you'll need to allow it so you can then tick the box that says in effect, "don't bother me about this again". Important - Do not use the System Configuration Utility to stop processes. Instead, use Start>Run>services.msc [enter] and do not stop any services unless you really, really know what you're doing. The free Autoruns program is very useful for managing your Startup - http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sy...ls/default.mspx Malke -- MS-MVP Elephant Boy Computers www.elephantboycomputers.com Don't Panic! |

It's impossible to tell from your post what's really going on. It sounds like your computer is infected and/or is possibly having hardware issues (video card?). I already told you how to manage your Startup, but here's even more information on it: How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista - http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...kb;EN-US;929135 And for virus/malware removal: http://www.elephantboycomputers.com...emoving_Malware Based on your posts, it would probably be best for you to take the machine to a competent computer professional (not your local equivalent of BigComputerStore/GeekSquad). I say that not meaning to offend you in any way but rather simply to be practical. Malke -- MS-MVP Elephant Boy Computers www.elephantboycomputers.com Don't Panic! |
