Can PP2003 import 1520 jpeg files

Can PP2003 satisfactorily handle the import of 1520 jpeg files whose total
size is 2.11Gb or would these files need to be reduced in size by compressing
before import.

PowerPoint does not import a large numbers of images automatically. You might want to look at this utility from MVP Shyam Pillai to do the task for you. http://skp.mvps.org/iiw.htm

don't do that, you will regret it
first, resize all pictures by this free piece of nice software:
http://www.faststone.org/FSResizerDetail.htm
reduce the size to let's say max 50-100KB/pic

the question is if powerpoint can handle all the 1520 jpegs
