Just recently my Windows Media Player has decided that it doesn't want
to play audio files. At least I assume it doesn't want to play audio files since it won't display them when I tried to open them using the File menu. In the past I would open my mp3 files by right clicking the top of the WMP window and selecting File->Open. Once I select the folder containing the mp3s I want to play they would be displayed in the Open window. Now when I do this none of the audio files are displayed (wav or mp3). If I select "Any File" in the "File of type:" drop down the files will list. I checked this out on a second computer and realized the I am missing the "Windows Audio File" option from the above mentioned drop down menu. Because of this, if I select the top option of "Media file (all types)" the audio files won't list. Does anyone have any ideas as to how I might be able to get the "Windows Audio Files" option back on the list? Thank you in advance. |

What version of WMP are you using? Get a fresh copy of v10 here
which is currently the best version, not WMP11. After download, install it overtop of current version, if possible. If not, uninstall your current one and then install. WMP10 (12.2Mb) http://oldversion.com/program.php?n=wmp -- XP - WNP Today is the first day of the rest of your life.
