Is it safe to uninstall Windows Live Messenger, Windows Live Sign In
Assistant and Windows Live Toolbar? I never use it and do not intend to ever use it! Can I uninstall them from Control Panel? Thank you, Fred. |

Actually, the option in Add/Remove Windows Components there in Add or Remove Programs will
just remove the shortcut -- it'll still stay around. To properly and completely remove Windows Messenger 4.7, you'll need to click the Start button, then click Run and enter: RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove Then click OK. -- Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Live Messenger MSN Messenger/Windows Messenger MessengerGeek Blog: http://www.messengergeek.com Messenger Resources: http://messenger.jonathankay.com (c) 2008 Jonathan Kay - If redistributing, you must include this signature or citation -- "Rasmus Bertelsen" <rasbert@vip.cybercity.invalid> wrote in message news:ermEk9VsIHA.5068@TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... > Catherine skrev: >> How does one uninstall Windows messenger? Thanks for the advice as I want to go to an earlier version to see if it corrects problems which started occurring on IE7 the day I installed Live Messenger (06/05). Those problems by the way are instances of IE7 just freezing or upon opening trying to open two tabs. I believe I have the two tabs issue cleared by changing an option but the intermittent freezes still occur. Thanks again, Billy |
