I have heard its ready to download at

www.majorgeeks.com

but i dont even know what SP 3 has to offer
does it offer security patches, more or less?

Microsoft's release date for Windows XP Service Pack 3 is set for the 29th April 2008.. Search Microsoft for Windows XP service Pack 3 for details.....

I'd stick to the official release.

I think that it is just a single pack of updates that covers the period from the last service pack rather than all the seperate modules . It helps when re-installing an os .

been running the beta of this for a while now, had no problems with or noticed any difference in performance etc
