Default Flash Drive problem?

Hi .
I have a 6 GB flash drive that i use alot.It has always worked flawlessly
until today when i plugged it in to the port and the utility that says its
safe to remove your drive came up but the drive itself was not found in my
computer .I checked the device manager and it listed a usb storage device
but thats all .i have some office files that are on the drive that i need to
access ..does anyone know what may be wrong, and why my drive is suddenly
not recognized?

Flash drives die. To see if this is the case with yours, plug it into a
different computer with known-working USB ports. If the drive isn't seen,
it has died. You can still get the data off it by sending it to a
professional data recovery company, but that will be extremely expensive.
