keyboard skips and switch's letters as i type

as i am typing -- say i type the word -like-it comes out likh- not always the
same letter, i am New to computers so i go vey slow as to not make mistakes
but as i may make some but the words with dropped letters 1st i thought maybe
the key was not being depressed properly but not it is there anything that
maybe can be done to address this--I want to thank you all in advance you
folks have been a ton of Help tu Linda
