I have had Windows mail for a year now and last week it suddenly began asking
me for my username and password everytime I open it. I am entering it correctly but it just keeps rejecting it and giving me the following error: Account: 'pop.east.cox.net', Server: 'pop.east.cox.net', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR invalid user name or password.', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92 I just got a new computer and I hoped that the problem would be corrected, but I am still experiencing it. I called my internet provider to make sure I had it set up right and I do. The support person I talked to told me that Windows mail was down, but I cannot find any documentation on that online anywhere. Does anyone have any ideas on what might be causing this? |

And it's still down? Sometimes, when these things happen users don't
recognize the problem, start making changes and now they are really confused. So when the site comes back up, it won't connect. Do you remember what you have changed? Was is only name and password? If so, all you have to do is come up with them. Hope you can remember them. If you did more than that, then go and put the original values back. If you can't remember these, then go to the Cox website help page and follow the setup procedure. I usually keep my webmail version handy so that If I suspect my mail is down with Windows Mail, I check it with WEBmail. Usually they go down together (but not all the time). When you say you can't find documentation are you looking for mail/network status or setup, or both. Here's the Cox setup: http://support.cox.com/sdccommon/as...entredirect.asp and the Network status button is just above the instructions. Wish I had more to tell you. -- Regards, BobF. This problem is most likely being caused by a non-compatible antivirus.
Which antivirus are you running? -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (WLMail) "Jweible" <Jweible@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:1A1C29AC-7FDD-4870-9A49-CCE18EBA8006@microsoft.com... >I have had Windows mail for a year now and last week it suddenly began asking > me for my username and password everytime I open it.
