Default Windows Mail severe problem??

Woke up this morning to discover all my messages had been emptied out of my
inbox..
Now as soon as a message is opened it just disappears in fact it vanishes
but not even to the deleted items..
I even tried copying messages from another folder into the inbox but nothing
appears..
What is happening here..please help.. Can I retrieve any of my messages
back?

Hi,

Just a hunch, but click view/current view, see if 'show all messages' is
enabled as opposed to 'hide read messages'.

At least it was easy to fix, probably aren't too many here who haven't done
something similar.
