I receive the message "The System Administrator has set policies to prevent
this installation" whenever i attempt installing a MSI program. All of the changes I have attempted do not help. I have Turned UAC OFF. I have set upa 'real' administrator account. for the installations. I have disabled defender. I attempt installation as administrator. Nothing works. What else might I do to fix this problem? I am running Vista Business. Thanks so much....Linda |

Hi Linda,
Click Start and select Run, type the following..... secpol.msc then OK. It may take a few seconds for the menu to appear. Select Local Policies then Security Options. Scroll down to "User Account Control" You will see several. Look at the very first one, is it set to Enable or Disable? -- All the best, SG ALEX NICHOL (1935-2005) http://www.aumha.org/alex.htm You will never be forgotten my friend "LindaCSmith" <LindaCSmith@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:FE26F314-3010-4215-B50D-2DE48D88446A@microsoft.com... >I receive the message "The System Administrator has set policies to prevent > this installation" whenever i attempt installing a MSI program. Unfortunately the change didn't help. I tried the install using both 'owner'
and administrator ids; both give the same error. Thank you for trying to help. Can you think of anything else to try? ....Linda "SG" wrote: > Linda, > > Go back and Enable it then try your install. > > -- > All the best, > SG > > ALEX NICHOL > (1935-2005) > http://www.aumha.org/alex.htm > You will never be forgotten my friend > > "LindaCSmith" <LindaCSmith@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news:2A722E01-E220-4A12-87EB-5AD1498D1D01@microsoft.com... > > SG...the 'User Account Control:Admin Approval Mode...' is disabled. > > > > Thanks...Linda > > > > "SG" wrote: > > > >> Hi Linda, > >> > >> Click Start and select Run, type the following..... > >> secpol.msc then OK. > >> > >> It may take a few seconds for the menu to appear. > >> Select Local Policies then Security Options. > >> Scroll down to "User Account Control" > >> You will see several. > >> Look at the very first one, is it set to Enable or Disable? > >> > >> -- > >> All the best, > >> SG > >> > >> ALEX NICHOL > >> (1935-2005) > >> http://www.aumha.org/alex.htm > >> You will never be forgotten my friend > >> > >> "LindaCSmith" <LindaCSmith@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > >> news:FE26F314-3010-4215-B50D-2DE48D88446A@microsoft.com... > >> >I receive the message "The System Administrator has set policies to > >> >prevent > >> > this installation" whenever i attempt installing a MSI program. Open a Command prompt.
Type: msiexec /unregister and press Enter. Type: msiexec /regserver and press Enter. Try the install again. If the above don't work take a look in your Registry at the following...
