Internet Shortcurts

Whenever I get to a website I like....I click on the the double star to save
the page as a favorite and then it is not saved under the column on the left
side of the page. Instead it automatically saves it to an favorites file that
I have to access under my desktop. Then on some of the shortcuts that I click
on it says "the target of this internet shortcut is invalid. Go to Internet
shortcut property sheet and make sure the target is correct." Why is this
happening? Please can someone help me????
