My new computer with Vista fitted

Ref my earlier contribution. I got my new computer on Saturday and spent
many hours trying it out. It seem to accept all the old programmes I throw
at it, I can't afford new ones and It sure is very pretty, I am still
reading the Dummys book I just bought and trying to come to terms with the
new ways of getting to wherre I want to get. so far it works OK. However, I
have a new D-Link modem router to replace the old one which required a
Wireless unit to send signals around the house. The new one has a built in
Wireless unit but I cannot get it to go.The software gets me so far then it
hangs and tells me I need to check the username etc(whichis allcorrect as
far as I Know.. Calling support for IINET is a difficult job since the
waiting time is over 30 minutes, as it was last night.
Has anybody, a real human, got any ideas to help me.

why do you need a software to configure a router?

you have to log in to its setting page usually typing an address like
192.168.1.1 or similar (read your manual)
and then from there you do all the settings..

unless this is a USB router.. which is a bad choice.

This is going through Internet Explorer.
The address for your D-Link is: http://192.168.0.1
Once you click to go there, you get that popup window requiring username and
password.

At least 2 ways to do things on a computer.

You are going through the disk that came with it.

Username: admin
Password: (leave blank)

You must also connect the router to the computer with a cat 5 cable to set
it up. After it is setup then you can connect wirelessly.
