Because of a firewall problem I lost internet and email access. That problem
has been solved...but since then I cannot send all email. When I press " send" the box "dial up connection" (I have cable) "select the service you want to connect to" that selection is empty. Connect automatically is checked. Then there are three buttons "connect" "settings" and "cancel" If I check connect nothing happens, If I check select the connection setting on the accounts appears. Another box dialing attempt 1 Unable to establish a connection. There is NOTHING in my accounts settings that indicates a dial up setting. The accounts...connections setting also locks the computer. |

If there is no dot in the circle before Never dial a connection, click on this circle, then Apply. Click on OK. In Windows Mail, click on Tools, then Options, then Connection. If there is no check mark in the box before Ask before switching dial-up connections, click on this box, then Apply. Thanks but when I get to the place where it says "Never dial a connection"
the area is grey the dot is grey...you can't change it. I did check the boxes "Ask before switching dial-up connections," & "Hang up after sending and receiving," but I still get the dial up connection box and still can't send the messages in my outbox. Hang up after sending and receiving isn't supposed to be checked. Try
again. There may be another setting somewhere that I've forgotten. The setting that is critical for this problem is under Tools, Accounts,
select the account, Properties, Connection. If you can not get to that screen, then your Windows Mail is corrupted, and you might as well upgrade to Windows Live Mail: http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (WLMail) "Anne" <Anne@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:C105D041-0E3E-48FF-98C6-DC3EE1E9AA75@microsoft.com... > Because of a firewall problem I lost internet and email access. The computer locked up when I tried again to fix the tools, account properties connection...so I took your advice and attempted to install Windows Live mail and got an error message that the file was corrupted and not installed. Any ideas? Should I try again? I hope Windows live mail fixes some of the problems with Windows Mail. Thanks "Gary VanderMolen" wrote: > The setting that is critical for this problem is under Tools, Accounts, > select the account, Properties, Connection. The problem was finally solved when I was able to install window live mail
and deleted both the accounts in windows mail. Then I installed them again. But now I've got to deal with the old problem of "Windows can't find." But I do know how to fix that. Thanks to all. Sounds like your computer has problems that extend beyond mail.
Uninstall and/or delete any part of Windows Live Mail that got installed or downloaded, then try again. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (WLMail) "Anne" <Anne@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:080D6F0B-BD07-4098-BB03-9F5AD3B75716@microsoft.com... > > The computer locked up when I tried again to fix the tools, account > properties connection...so I took your advice and attempted to install > Windows Live mail > and got an error message that the file was corrupted and not installed.
