Default Sidebar always on top, but with opacity?

I want the sidebar to remain 'on top of all windows', without narrowing the
pages.

I'd like the nice, wide, original screen page width I've gotten used to and
the see-through sidebar actually laying on top as I'm working. I have the
opacity settings very dim and read right through them - but I hate it when I
lose them going to another page.
What can I do here?

Thanks in Advance;

I tried to do this - I cannot get it done. ''Side bar always on top" narrows
the desktop.
I'm going to be anxious to see if it can be done.

You could drag items onto the desktop and have them always on top with
opacity.
