Hello all
Sorry if this is the wrong place for this, but getting no joy anywhere else. Bought DeusEx Invisible War dvd version a few days ago, brand new copy, still shrinkwrapped, and cant get the thing to run. Installed direct from dvd, version 1.2. No patches applied. Installed with and without antivirus software running, complete uninstall between. Try to run, get black screen, then black window top left of screen, window disappears, game doesnt run, explorer crashes, start menu programs duplicated. Contacted Eidos and they suggested installing latest video drivers. I did this and lost Direct3D functionality. DXDIAG Direct3D tests all failed. Direct3D 7 test results: Failure at step 8 (Creating 3D Device): HRESULT = 0x80004005 (Generic failure) Direct3D 8 test results: Failure at step 8 (Creating 3D Device): HRESULT = 0x8876086c (error code) Direct3D 9 test results: Failure at step 8 (Creating 3D Device): HRESULT = 0x8876086c (error code) This was due to the new drivers. Installing drivers dated 17/12/2006 fixed the problem. Now when I run the game I get the game loading, the intro plays and I can select a character. As soon as I select Start Game, however, the screen goes black and nothing happens. The only way out is a complete reboot. Can anyone offer any advice ?
