I'm running Vista business 64. After installing the 1/8/2008 updates, my
computer took over an hour to configure the updates and shutdown before I manually turned it off. The first 45 minutes or so it showed "Configuring updates..." and the remaining time was "Shutting down". After restarting, I got a configuring updates screen and windows restarted again on its own after that screen. The 7 updates are shown as being succesfully installed in Windows Update. In Problem Reports and Solutions, there are 5 problems that occured duing the updates: -Windows encountered a problem while installing device drivers for your Standard AHCI 1.0 Serial ATA Controller. -Windows encountered a problem while installing device drivers for your Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller. -Windows encountered a problem while installing device drivers for your IDE Channel (3 times). In the event viewer, there are hundreds of warnings and errors regarding the updates under the following Event IDs: 4386, 4376, 4374, 4375, 4385. |

Are you sure these are new updates? Considering that the updates are sent
out the 2nd Tuesday of every month. Which is next week so no new updates were issued as of 1/8/2008. ![]() -- ~Alex T~ ..:MVP Windows Shell/User:. Sounds like you accepted an update for hardware in your system that was not
fully compatible with the installed hardware. Use System Restore to go back to before the updates were installed, then check the update list and see what's being offered to you. -- Richard G. Yes I see today is the 2nd tuesday. My glance at the calendar was off. I
didn’t count the first cause everyone around me was off that day. But I still find it interesting how I didn’t get any updates... -- ~Alex T~ ..:MVP Windows Shell/User:. "Richard G. Only problems I had was that I had left WLM open, and it said it could finish because required files were in use. Closed out, rebooted and everything was fine. -- The reason why worry kills more people than work is that more people worry than work. http://www.lockergnome.com/darksentinel Undo the munge to reply by email |

Actually there was a group of updates that were issued 1/8/08. Some of them
were in preparation of the SP1 update. -- Mark R.
