Default Questions about mirroring volumes

Hi,

I've just built a new system with a 500GB Samsung SATA drive. I've set up my
system volume to use 60GB. I also have a 160GB IDE hard drive from my old
machine. Is it feasible to mirror my system volume to the IDE, or do they
both need to be SATA?

Also, my motherboard (Asus P5B SE) supports hardware RAID, but I believe
that would only work to mirror entire SATA drives with each other.

Thanks,
Mike

Default RE: Questions about mirroring volumes

you should use the hardware raid first, I think in order to use Raid the
drives should all be the same partition size. Raid needs to be the Sata, not
the Pata

Should be noted that you can use your old PATA drives on the SATA controller
with adapters. Gave new to life to my old 80GB and 250GB Barracudas. Depends
on the RAID controller as well. Some don't like it unless the drives are the
same size, and has been noted even down model. YMMV.
