But only if you are aware of the potential hazards of Beta including
but not limited to the time bomb.
If not, stay away and wait for the final release early next year.

I read today that if you down load SP1 RC1 it also automatically gives
you SP1 for Office 2007 (220 meg) if you have it installed. If you don't
want the Office update you have to uncheck it. Watch for line wrap.

Not quite true.
If you have Microsoft/Windows Update set to Automatic, then you will
get Office 2007 SP-1 along with the other updates.
Installing Vista SP-1 Beta in itself doesn't not give you any other
updates.

If you do not have Windows/Microsoft Update on Automatic, you will not
get Office SP-1 unless you visit Microsoft/Windows Update.
If you visit Windows/Microsoft Update, Office 2007 SP-1 will be
available and checked, but you can uncheck it as well as any other
update.

This is one of the benefits/hazards of Beta testing.
Part of the unexpected but typical type of behaviors when dealing with
Beta such as this RC.

Of course if you do not have Office 2007 or any components thereof,
you will not get Office 2007 SP-1.
