Default Sending e-mails

I can receive but not send e-mails. They remain in the outbox. I have
activated "send authentication" option which my ISP (btinternet) requires.

This is a new problem.

btinternet is slow on updating their intructions for how to set up to
use their email servers. I found some instructions, but they assume
you are using Outlook Express under Windows 98, with a dialup
modem, and not something more recent.

http://www.btinternet.com/new/conte...ac_outlook.html

Are you getting any error messages when you try to send something?
If so, show the entire error message.

What if any antivirus programs do you have? Some cause various
problems in Windows Mail, although seldom immediately.

"SMTP" is not a valid server name. Try these instructions:

"SMPT" is not a valid name for a mail server. Since each mail provider
has their own mail servers, you must obtain the correct mail server names
from them. Often your mail provider (or ISP) will have a web page that
has directions for setting up your email account. If you need help with
that, tell us who your mail provider is, and we can look it up for you.
