Default server name error message

When I send mail out it is rejected with Windows Mail-Error, the host (i
have used pop3 and smtp) could not be found error number 0x800CCC0D.
HELP. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO CORRECT THIS FOR DAYS. I HAVE YET TO FIND A
CUSTOMER SUPPORT THAT CAN EVEN TELL ME WHAT I NEED TO DO.

pop3 and smtp are both invalid host names. Ask you email provider (who
is probably also your internet provider) for their instructions to set up
to use their email servers. If they haven't written instructions for
Windows
Mail yet, use their instructions for Outlook Express but under Windows Mail
instead. The instructions are probably somewhere on their web site.

Connecting to Yahoo from Windows Mail requires a premium Yahoo
account:

Who is providing you the email address?
You need to check with them. Most have a help page to tell you what their
server names are.

For instance, to find help with comcast
Google "comcast email server"

Also, keep in mind that Windows Mail can only access POP & IMAP email
servers. It cannot access http email.
The newer WIndows Live Mail can access POP, IMAP & Hotmail accounts.

What is the complete error message? It contains a lot of additional
information that would help diagnose the problem.

Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus. Also exclude EML
files from the scan. It provides no
protection not provided by the regular resident protection.
Besides that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail and
Outlook Express and should be uninstalled.

pop3 and smtp are not valid server names.

You need a premium Yahoo account to connect with Windows Mail:

Use their instructions for Outlook Express, but under Windows Mail
instead.

Didn't any of the 4 responses to her question help you?

Who is your email provider?

Evidently the web interface users have a hard time figuring out
how to see replies. Microsoft either needs to improve that interface
or else send customers to the NNTP newsgroup instead.
