-- Joe Gold I hope you can help me with this mass storage problem? I want to apologize up front for being so wordy, but I wanted to give you the background of what I did or tried to do. I had an old Dell desktop computer using Windows 98se and replaced the hard drive with a 160 gb Seagate hard drive. The mother board would only let me configure hard drive as a 2gb c:\ drive and a 147gb d:\ petition and it worked fine. My son gave me a Toshiba laptop with Windows Vista. I removed the Seagate hard drive from the Dell and put it in a hard disk enclosure and attached it to the Toshiba via USB. The Toshiba Vista found the hard drive and I could see the software on it and it was configured as 2gbs e:\ drive and 147gbs f:\ drive. I removed the software from both the e:\ and f:\ drives because I was concerned that the software would not work properly. Next I created a new folder(Test) on drive c:\ and a Notepad text test file and put it in Test folder. Next I copied and pasted the folder and file on and off the e:\ and f:\ drives. That all worked fine. My next step was to put some of my old Windows '95 and '98se software(I have the original disks) on drive f:\ of the Toshiba Vista computer. I started by Installing Microsoft Office Professional Windows '95. It seems to have installed properly, but the startup info was put on drive c:\. When I realized this, I started to rethink how and where to put the old software. The first thing I did was to uninstall Microsoft Office Professional '95. I Clicked Start, Clicked Control Panel, Double Clicked Programs and Features, Clicked Microsoft Office Professional, Clicked Uninstall/Change . A Setup Window came up and asked to put in the Microsoft Office professional ‘95 CD #1, which I did and clicked OK. The Microsoft Office Professional ‘95 Installation Maintenance window opened . Clicked Remove All button(Remove all previously installed components ). Setup Message window opened, saying "Are you sure you want to Remove Microsoft Office Professional ‘95?" , clicked Yes button. The hour glass came on as though it was going to execute the removal, but it immediately went off. Vista Hung up, the only thing I could do was to click the Start Button and Shut the computer down. I restarted the computer and found that the Microsoft Office Professional ‘95 was not removed. Any help you can give will be much appreciated, "alixjames" wrote: > > Im having problems with my mass storage devices on vista (external > drives, Ipod, flash drives etc). > > These were all working 2 weeks ago on the same Vista PC.
