my system is reporting this error repeatedly in spurts... 8,885 times in 24
hours... i don't even have a "\Device\Video4"... how on earth do i decipher and correct this ???????? Log Name: System Source: nvlddmkm Date: 12/5/2007 7:59:23 PM Event ID: 14 Task Category: None Level: Error Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: VM-TIMB Description: The description for Event ID 14 from source nvlddmkm cannot be found. You have a rather severe video driver issue. Which nVidia driver do you have
installed presently? Download the current nVidia driver from the nVidia web site and save it where it will be easy to find. Go to the folder C:/NVIDIA and delete the contents of the currently installed driver which will stop Windows re-installing the same bad driver when it restarts. Now uninstall the incumbent video driver. When the system restarts, install the newly downloaded driver. Cross your fingers. Nothing in this world is for sure.. :-) -- Mike Hall - MVP http://msmvps.com/blogs/mikehall/default.aspx "timb" <mtguy26505@yahoo.com> wrote in message news 55230D9-C358-4963-8321-057564AB5EC0@microsoft.com...> my system is reporting this error repeatedly in spurts... 8,885 times in > 24 hours... i don't even have a "\Device\Video4"... how on earth do i > decipher and correct this ???????? > > Log Name: System > Source: nvlddmkm > Date: 12/5/2007 7:59:23 PM > Event ID: 14 > Task Category: None > Level: Error > Keywords: Classic > User: N/A > Computer: VM-TIMB > Description: > The description for Event ID 14 from source nvlddmkm cannot be found. > Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local > computer or the installation is corrupted. i redownloaded and reinstalled the current nvidia whql drivers 163.75 and
the error persists... i'm not sure it's the graphics device that's creating the error... "Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer." video/graphics seem to be working just fine... just an error log full of much... The file causing the problem relates to nVidia graphics. It is not easy to
discern what your problem may be or how to fix it. Do you play a game during the time the errors occur, and if so, what is the name of the game? -- Mike Hall - MVP http://msmvps.com/blogs/mikehall/default.aspx "timb" <mtguy26505@yahoo.com> wrote in message news:3D0B6B37-5A99-4392-9077-B2E58E36DD00@microsoft.com... >i redownloaded and reinstalled the current nvidia whql drivers 163.75 and >the error persists... i'm not sure it's the graphics device that's creating >the error... > > "Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your > local computer or the installation is corrupted. Thanks Mike...
It occurs without any specific application or game... that's the perplexing nature of the error because the "source" is on the grapics driver, the device, or application or "component" is not identified... I downloaded and installed NVidia's latest beta drivers (169.12) and installed them after using a Driver Cleaner.Net to remove the crap left behind on an uninstall... On the new driver install, the error occured on boot... my system specs are: CPU: QuadCore Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6700, 2.80 MHz @ 8x MOTHERBOARD: EVGA NF680i - 122-CK-NF68-A1 RAM: 4 GB Corsair XMS2 CM2X1024-6400C4 @ 4-4-4-12-2T BIOS: P30 GPU: EVGA GeForce 8800 GTX (768 MB) DISPLAY: ViewSonic VG2230wm [22" LCD] (QC9065103712) AUDIO: Creative SB X-Fi XtremeGamer Sound Card STORAGE: RAID 0 - 500GB WD 7200 RPM 250GB WD 7200 RPM WD 320 GB USB 3 Optical Drives CPU/FSB 2.80 Mhz - 1440 Mhz - FSB @ 1.4v - CPU @ Auto RAM Linked/Synced @ 700 Mhz @ 2.1v NVidia Drivers Version 169.12 (beta) "Mike Hall - MVP" <mikehall@mvps.com> wrote in message news:u7nAgjOOIHA.2268@TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... > The file causing the problem relates to nVidia graphics.
