Reinstall the drivers. This is probably a laptop so get them from the
laptop mftr.'s website for your specific model machine.

Hi ! I have the same problem - all of a sudden the network adapter got lost.
though bluetooth works just fine. the problem is one for 2 months now. once
in a while it would all of a sudden start working once again, but it
disappears with the next turn on....
i've reinstalled the drivers, the QLB buttons, I've reseated the card - all
as suggested by HP support team, but.... nothing!! i deeply believe that this
is due to certain windows vista update as it went off same time i installed
laatest 10 updates, and when i delete them, sometimes i am able to get the
network adapter working... i've got hp pavilion 6000 with amd processor if it
means anything.....

I'm having a similar problem with my Broadcom card. I have vista on an HP
Pavilion dv2000 (dv2221us). My wireless is a Broadcom 802.11b/g wlan. A
couple of days ago my wireless stopped working (I got the little yellow
trangle + ! down in the bar) and using the manual switch to turn off/on
didn't do anything. I restarted my computer in hope that that would solve
the problem - no dice. I couldn't get any response with anything, so I
checked the device manager and the card was no longer listed.

I used HP's recovery manager to go back to the initial driver, and that
initially worked. The rest of the day everything was fine. The next day I
was doing some updates and checking email when it happened again - which is
to say that my internet connection was lost and the switch was nonresponsive.
I just plugged in the lan cord and used that the rest of the day.

Today when I took the computer out of sleep mode everything was working
again. Later on in the day, though, I lost it again. I tried reinstalling
the driver like the first time, but it didn't work. I downloaded a driver
from HP's site, but that didn't work either. I was about to try removing and
replacing the card, but I'm not convinced that will work for more than a day.
Any help would be awesome. Thanks.

I also have this same problem. my laptop is a Compaq F579WM and after
installing updates for Windows Vista Home Premium, I rebooted and my wireless
card was gone. I heard rumors that Windows no longer supports the device and
thats why it no longer is working. I have asked for help from the Compaq/HP
customer support but they can only suggest buying a new wireless card. This
laptop is 3 months old, i shouldn't have to buy anything for it when it
already was installed. If windows no longer supports devices, Bill Gates
should be willing to buy us hardware that DOES work. Thanks alot Bill for
making my life hell! lol if anyone would like to contact me, my email is

Hey guys. I've had the same with a dv2000z .
It's not related to a vista upgrade , since it also happens on linux
(linux doesn't "see" the card).
I've had more or less the same now-you-see-me-now-you-don't behavior.
This forum thread is very self explanatory, and I'm afraid it's not
good news, I strongly recommend you to read it...
