Default AVG Free no longer free ?

Mine has turned into addware, ads popping up all over the
place.
Or did I leave some option ticked the wrong way ?

PS using AVG for over 4 years now

Update it. It will get rid of the pop ups.

Ray.

Don't know - each update over last few days has loaded the web browser and
displayed a page about 25% off if I buy something this month - didn't bother
reading it all before I shut it down in disgust.

I am no expert but wouldn't it be more effective to completely remove all of
it from your PC and just do a clean, new download and start over?

Mine has been updating as usual each day, no sign of the behavior you
describe. However, twice in the last couple of weeks, after the update
installed, it said I need to restart. When I did that, AVG didn't
start up properly and the Control Center wouldn't launch. Both times I
ended up re-running the latest install program and 'reparing' the
installation, after which it worked OK again.

No popups with mine, which updates intself everyday. Only problem I've
had,And yet to solve, is that about one month ago it stopped starting up
at bootup, I have to now start it manually.
