What was backed-up depends on what criteria you set when you backed up, which
program did you use?
You say you PC is messed up, if it is badly "messed up" maybe you should
consider doing a 'system restore' to the point prior to back up. (You did set
a restore point).
As you are aware, backup does not remove items/ basically it just copies them.
