I am getting the following message when I run Vista's (Ultimate) PC backup
utility. I have tried backing up to an external hard drive and DVD's. I get the same error message a quarter of the way into the backup. I have turned off all other programs (including the anti-virus) and the computer is brand new. Any ideers on what may be causing this? "The writer experienced a transient error ..." -- PIRX1959 |

Since no one knowledgeable has responded, I'll throw this out:
There was a software trigger that flagged an error, but when it went to identify it, there was no link to tell what the error was. I used to have to debug programs that didn't trap all possible errors. When confronting the programmer, they said "That would never happen!" Well, it did. So, you may have an "unanticipated error." It is probably a system error, so you may be having another problem that is causing it, like even a hardware problem. The "system" expects a certain situation that is not as it should be, or is expected to be.
