I recently uninstalled Norton from my computer and I would like a
recommendation about whether to use the free AVG or to use Live OneCare. Do I really need all of the features of OneCare when Vista already has a firewall and phishing filter? Thank you. |

If you want to pay for a better AV, then use NOD32. http://www.eset.com/ They have two versions now. An all in one security suite and anti-virus/trojan/spyware version. I use the AV version. I use the Windows Firewall in conjunction with Sphinx Vista Firewall Control, which gives you application control. The free version Sphinx offers is really all you need. It works with Vista's firewall. http://www.sphinx-soft.com/Vista/ Comodo BOClean also works well with Vista and plays nice with NOD32. It's an effective spyware/trojan/malware killer. It doesn't have on-demand scanning, but it sits and monitors in real-time. http://www.comodo.com/boclean/boclean.html Comodo also offers a free AV and firewall. I have not used their AV. I do not like their newest firewall, it doesn't play nice with NOD32. I do not like OneCare. -Michael |
