Default can receive but cant send

I can receive msgs from people, but when I send new or reply, the msgs sit in
my outbox. I have McAfee Security. Is this the problem and if so, how do I
fix it?

McAfee or Norton antivirus programs are often the cause of such problems
and need to be uninstalled, not just disabled, to stop the problems.

A temporary fix that often works is to download and install this fix, with
Windows Mail not running:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

Although it's labelled as for mail stuck in the Outbox, it also works in
other folders. If you don't know whether to use the 32-bit version or
the 64-bit version, try the 32-bit version first. If you keep the McAfee
program, remember where to find this fix - you are likely to need it
again.

It is likely that your antivirus is the root cause of this problem.
Windows Mail is not compatible with most McAfee
and Norton security programs. Those will need to be
uninstalled, not just disabled.

After uninstalling your non-compatible antivirus, download
and install a more compatible antivirus like the free Avast:
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

Even compatible antivirus programs will need to have their
email scanning option turned off. For more on this topic see
http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3

After doing the above, if you still can't send, let us know if
you can move the messages currently in the Outbox to the
Drafts folder. If not, Microsoft has a fix for that:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090
