Default how can i create a column chart with indices?


i have problems creating a chart with indices i.e 3.6 × 10 to the power of -23. i have for example, hydrogen in A1 and the number 2.4 × 10 to the power -23 in A2, and when i highlight these to create a chart it don't work, this is on microsoft excel 2007. so please is there anyone that can help?
