cannot delete file

i was coping some info form our server here at work to my computer's desktop
but i changed my mind about half way through and clicked 'cancel' which it
did. then i went to my desktop to delete all the files that were copied
before the cancel and i have now a huge headache.

i have tried everything i could fnd to do to delete a file on my desktop. i
can't remane it, override it, open it, delete it, change owenership, scan it
for a virus, anything. i have searched for fixes, i have tried this in safe
mode. i have ran DOS to chage the attributes which appeared to be success
full but i still couldn't delete it. i have ran a chkdsk in DOS with
administrative privliges. nothing seems to work. i tried a system restore
to a know safe restore point and it failed. i can open it with notepad (it
is an AutoCAD file) and save it in another location and delete that file but
i can not overwrite it. i right-click and select properties and nothing
shows up. i have re-booted many times.

again, i have tried everything i could think of.

Maybe you should try re-copying and actually let it complete before you try
to delete.
