Default keybpard turns off

Windows Vista turns off my keyboard without a reason.
It´s not a hardware problem, if I use the virtual keyboard it turns on again
as soon as I press num lock.
And it´s not as it goes on hibernation because I am working when it happens.
Anyone knows what could be?

Which model and brand laptop is this? Have you checked the manufacturers
website for updated drivers?

I don´t use a laptop, I use a HP Pavilion desktop tower and the keyboard is
an old fashioned one that came with it and Vista is its original OS. And I
updated everything I could...
